The Little General Store doesn’t make t-shirt quilts like the ones you’ve seen, which are usually cut into boring squares with uninspired borders. Blah.

We think it’s much more interesting to jazz it up. That’s why every bit of artwork on your shirts, from the pockets to the sleeve decoration, is used in your custom t-shirt quilt.

Bits of each shirt are combined to create larger squares facing all directions, giving your quilt a unique feel that can be appreciated no matter the direction it faces. Coordinating fabrics are chosen to align with 2-3 of your favorite colors, which you and TLGS will work out before work begins. The entire blanket is machine quilted in a free-motion pattern. It’s super unique. Just like you.

Here at The Little General Store, we understand how precious these shirts of yours are, not because the cotton they’re made of is fancy, but because they’re made of irreplaceable memories. We treat your shirts as if they were our own.

{{stuff you should know}}
To make a t-shirt quilt that's approximately a full-size, we recommend gathering between 20 and 30 of your favorite tees. (Any number is okay, but know that the size will vary depending on design on shirts and number of shirts sent.) They do not have to match, but they do need to be without holes. (Very thin is okay, though. No worries there.) Before sending them to us, please wash and dry them, but do not try to cut them out. Let us do that for you.

{{how it works}}
You ship us your shirts. We iron them and apply interfacing, which makes them strong enough to withstand being stitched together. We put some warm snuggly binding inside and create a coordinating back for your quilt top before machine quilting and binding the whole thing together, giving it a finished, polished look.

{{cost & timeline}}
At the start of the project, you make an initial deposit of $100. It costs $20 to turn each t-shirt into a snuggly quilt piece. That means a quilt with 20 shirts will cost $400 and a quilt with 30 shirts will cost $600. (We are happy to work up a specific quote for the amount of shirts you plan to supply.) When we’re finished, we’ll send you photos of the quilt and you’ll send the remaining payment. (Example: If you make a deposit of $100 on a quilt of 30 shirts, you’ll be sending an additional $500 upon completion.)

YOU cover the cost of shipment to us, and WE cover the cost of shipment back to you, as well as all materials and labor. Upon receiving your shirts, we can usually get it back to you 6-8 weeks. Not bad, considering how many years they’ve been sitting at the bottom of your closet, right? (*NOTE: If you need your quilt in less than the 6-8 week timeframe, there is a $100 expedition charge.)
