The first moments are so precious that parting with even the most well-worn and milk-stained garments becomes too much to bear. Instead of donating or selling your favorite pieces, why not turn them into a cherished keepsake, one that can be passed down through the generations?

The Little General Store's custom-made baby quilts turn your child's most precious articles into a quilt.

Bits of each garment are combined and face all directions, giving your quilt a unique feel that can be appreciated no matter the direction it faces. Some pieces can remain intact, if you choose, and some pieces can be turned into strips of memory. All of your requests will be taken down all your requests before work ever begins. The entire blanket is machine quilted in a free-motion pattern, and can even include a name stitched into the quilting. It’s super unique. Just like you.

Here at The Little General Store, we understand how precious these pieces, not because the cotton they’re made of is fancy, but because they’re made of irreplaceable memories. We treat your little one's clothes as if they were our own. (We have kids. We get it.)

{{stuff you should know}}
Your quilt size will be determined by the amount and size of pieces you send, so we don't promise a specific size before we begin. But if you reeeeeally wanna know, to make a baby quilt that's *approximately* twin-size (this is NOT a guarantee!), we recommend gathering 30-40 of your favorite garments, which can include bibs, baby hats, ruffle-butts, etc. Before sending them to us, please wash and dry them, but please do not cut anything. Let us do that for you.

{{how it works}}
You ship us your garments. We iron them and apply interfacing, which makes them strong enough to withstand being stitched together. We put some warm snuggly binding inside and create a coordinating back for your quilt top before machine quilting and binding the whole thing together, giving it a finished, polished look.

{{cost & timeline}}
Because of the varied nature of each project, it's easier for us to charge a flat rate. At the start of the order, you make an initial deposit of $100. Each baby quilt costs $500, and just before shipping, we’ll send you a photo of your quilt and you send the remaining $400. YOU cover the cost of shipment to us, and WE cover the cost of shipment back to you, as well as all materials and labor.

Upon receiving your box of memories, we can *usually* get it back to you in 6-8 weeks. Not bad, considering you were just gonna shove them to the back of your closet, right? (*NOTE: If you need your quilt in less than the 6-8 week timeframe, there is a $100 expedition charge.)
